Can Tho - At Can Tho City Oncology Hospital, a new accelerator radiation therapy machine system is being urgently installed.

On February 24, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Huy Sang (of MEGA Medical Equipment Company, representative of VARIAN MEDICAL SYSTEMS) informed that the installation of the radiation therapy machine system at Can Tho City Oncology Hospital is being urgently implemented and deployed synchronously to ensure progress and meet medical needs in the Mekong Delta region.

According to information, although there are some difficulties in the implementation process, so far, the unit has completed the mechanical part and wiring, followed by turning on the machine and adjusting parameters, before proceeding to emit rays, applying for a license from the Department of Radiation and Nuclear Safety to officially serve.

A regular Cobalt radiation therapy machine takes about 20 - 30 minutes per radiation therapy session. This new machine has a very high therapeutic rate, is the latest generation, and has applied AI technology in radiation therapy, so the radiation therapy time is only from 4 - 6 minutes, which is a significant reduction of 5 - 6 times compared to the previous machine" - Mr. Sang said.

According to Mr. Sang, with this system, Can Tho City Oncology Hospital can provide radiation therapy for about 200 cases/day. It is known that this is the first modern generation of machines in the public health system, previously, the unit installed 2 machines in the private system.

When hearing information about the implementation of modern radiation therapy machine investment at Can Tho City Oncology Hospital under the direction of the Government, many people shared with Lao Dong about their joy and happiness.
