MC, editor and lawyer Anh Vo was moved when the library for children at Children's Hospital 1 (HCMC) was officially put into operation in mid-July 2025.
Seeing the clear eyes, the small hands with needles on the edges of the innocent children colored, smiling at the mini-slide, comic books, drew papers... moved many people.
When starting to do it, MC Anh Vo and the initial team imagined a large, fully-featured library. But the deeper they go into the survey, the more they understand that the most important thing is not being big but being close.
Nearly the children are teaching, near the children who cannot leave bed, almost to the point that just a few steps away can touch their favorite fairy tale or colored pencil set.
So the project is divided into 4 small library corners, spread across 3 different treatment departments at the hospital. Each corner is designed flexibly and child-friendly: From comics, wallpaper, colored pens, light exercise toys... to mini-slide bridge, stuffed animals... A small space, but enough to make children laugh.
In the eyes of children, MC Anh Vo is simply an adult who knows how to listen to children's dreams, knows how to turn a corner of the hospital corridor into a paradise of books and games.
They taught me how to be strong. After all, the children with the body full of IV tubes, scars, coughs... were the first teachers to teach me about courage" - MC Anh Vo said.
The female editor could not hide her emotions and said: At the age of 27, I realized that I was not just living for myself. I live to soothe, share and accompany very small things, very fragile but extremely resilient.
The library project at Children's Hospital 1 is just the beginning. But for MC Anh Vo, it is the most beautiful milestone of youth. A 27-year-old is not flashy, not partying but full of love, full of healing.
"Maybe there will be years when I can't return, but I can choose to live meaningfully while in them" - MC Anh Vo shared.
And those who stood in the hallway of Children's Hospital 1 this July could hardly forget: Sometimes, we give laughter to others, and receive lessons from a large heart.
MC Anh Vo also actively participates in other charity programs such as: Setting fake feet for children, cooking and giving congees, supporting charity houses, the 2024 Voluntary Lawyer campaign...
