On June 27, E Hospital informed that doctors in the Orthopedic Trauma Surgery Department had just received and treated a 43-year-old male patient in a state of severe blood loss, with deep, uneven buttocks on both sides. The cause was determined to be that the fan of a remote controlled pesticide spraying aircraft (agricultural drone) continuously slashed the patient during operation.
According to Dr. Kieu Quoc Hien - Head of Orthopedic Trauma Surgery, this is a rare case. The patient was admitted to the hospital with massive bleeding, with many large wounds in the buttocks - on the left side measuring 6x9 cm, on the right side 6x10 cm. The emergency team quickly stopped the bleeding temporarily, disinfected the wound and transferred it directly to the operating room to avoid shock and blood loss and the risk of infection.
Through medical history, the patient said that while operating a medicine spraying drone, the device suddenly had a problem and could not fly even though the fan was still rotating at high speed. Instead of stopping the device remotely, he approached and intended to withdraw the battery to check. When bending over, the fan rotated strongly and slashed the buttocks continuously, causing serious injuries. Fortunately, the patient's family discovered and took him to the hospital in time.
During the surgery, the doctors cleaned the crushed organization, removed necrotizing tissue, examined blood vessels and nerves, and then restored many layers. After the intervention, the patient's health has stabilized and is continuing to be monitored.
Dr. Kieu Quoc Hien warned that agricultural drones have a fan rotation speed of up to thousands of turns/minute, a very large cutting force, which can cause muscle, tendon, and even nerve tear if in close contact. In this case, just 12 cm down the slash, the mediastinal nerve the important nerve that controls leg movement can be damaged, leading to paralysis. Conversely, if slashed higher, the patient may have a superior bus station tear, causing muscle weakness and body imbalance.
Doctors recommend that accidents when using agricultural drones can be completely prevented if you follow the correct safe operating procedures. People need to absolutely not approach when the device is not completely turned off and must understand the instructions before using. Subjectivity or lack of knowledge can lead to serious consequences, threatening the lives and health of workers.
