From the beginning of 2025 to now, Ninh Binh has recorded 86 cases of measles, 10 times higher than in the whole year of 2024. Of which, about 90.1% of cases are in the group that have not been fully vaccinated against measles.
The youngest recorded age is 2 months and the oldest is 38 years old, of which about 39.53% are children under 9 months. This is the age at which the measles vaccine has not been vaccinated according to the Ministry of Health's vaccination schedule in the Expanded Immunization Program.
Implementing Decision No. 905/QD-BYT of the Ministry of Health on promulgating the plan to implement the Measles vaccination campaign in 2025, the Ninh Binh health sector actively coordinates with localities to step up propaganda, prepare conditions for implementing the second measles vaccination campaign in the province.
Doctor Nguyen Mai Thanh - Head of the Department of Infectious Disease Prevention, Ninh Binh Provincial Center for Disease Control said that the unit is coordinating with the Medical Centers of districts and cities to review and propose the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology and the Department of Health to prevent the need for measles vaccines to vaccinate subjects in the campaign.
In the second phase of the campaign, the Center received, preserved and distributed more than 3,000 doses of vaccine according to the needs of the units to deploy promptly, ensuring progress and the goal is to complete the vaccination campaign before March 31, 2025, in accordance with the direction assigned by the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Health and the People's Committee of Ninh Binh province.
The Ninh Binh Provincial Department of Health also requires medical examination and treatment facilities to ensure adequate medicine, supplies, chemicals, equipment for emergency care, patient treatment and disease prevention and control in situations to minimize death. At the same time, effectively implement infection control and prevent and control cross-infection of infectious diseases in medical facilities.
According to statistics from the health sector, the whole province of Ninh Binh has 3,478 children from 6 months to 10 years old vaccinated against measles, of which 3,058 children are from 6 months to under 9 months old. As of 4:00 p.m. on March 27, 1,755 children had been vaccinated, reaching 50.5%.
Ms. Pham Thi Phuong Hanh - Director of Ninh Binh Department of Health said that the Ninh Binh provincial health sector has implemented drastic solutions in preventing and controlling measles. In which, focusing on accelerating the vaccination of measles prevention and control.
Ninh Binh province strives for 95% of children who have not been vaccinated or have received enough doses of measles-containing vaccine as prescribed to be vaccinated with 1 dose of measles-containing vaccine in the campaign. Thereby helping to increase the rate of measles immunity in the community, reduce the rate of infection and death from measles.
