The meeting attracted the attention and participation of leading domestic and foreign health experts. The event marks the milestone of launching the next in-depth programs in a series of scientific activities nationwide to raise awareness and enhance response to obesity.

Vietnam is witnessing a 38% increase in overweight and obesity rates, in the list of countries with the fastest increase in obesity rates in Southeast Asia. The rate of obesity in adolescents in Ho Chi Minh City has exceeded 50%, in Hanoi it is over 41%.

The latest findings from the ACTION-Vietnam Research were published in the Journal of the Southeast Asian Endocrinology Federation on April 25, 2025. The study involved experts from Novo Nordisk and domestic health experts, to survey and analyze the current status of obesity management in Vietnam.

The study was conducted in the form of an anonymous online survey with the participation of 1,000 obese people and 200 health experts, providing important information on awareness, attitude, behavior and potential barriers to effective obesity management in Vietnam.

These findings emphasize the urgent need to raise public awareness, especially among patients and healthcare professionals, while promoting the establishment of early intervention measures, developing comprehensive treatment plans and personalizing care pathways for patients.
