On July 24, Gia Dinh General Hospital successfully performed a hip replacement surgery for old man L.T.T (96 years old) with many serious underlying diseases.
After a fall while working, the patient was diagnosed with a fracture of the hip transfer bone - a leading dangerous bone fracture in the elderly.
The patient had many serious underlying diseases such as high blood pressure, chronic kidney failure, local anemia, diabetes, severe chronic anemia, urinary tract infections, malnutrition and neurological disorders in old age.
After interdisciplinary consultations, the medical team adjusted all of the old lady's internal disorders before surgery. Then, a special incestuous hand surgery was performed to replace the annual joint with insensitivity: low-dose local anesthesia and mild sedation (ededicated sedation).
This method not only ensures cardiovascular stability, but also minimizes refreshment and cognitive disorders after surgery commonly found in the elderly.
After surgery, the patient was able to eat normally and practice rehabilitation. The fourth day after surgery, the patient was discharged from the hospital.
