On October 11, in Da Nang, the Vietnam Interventional Cardiology Association (under the Vietnam Cardiology Association) held the Opening Ceremony of the 10th National Interventional Cardiology Scientific Conference, with the theme "Cardiovascular Intervention in the New Era: Connecting - Sharing - Success".

The conference aims to help interventional cardiologists and related specialties update the latest advances in the field of cardiovascular intervention, aiming to continuously improve the quality of cardiovascular treatment in Vietnam.

The conference took place with diverse and comprehensive scientific topics in the field of cardiovascular intervention including: Advances in intervention of calcified coronary arteries, common trunk, chronic occlusion, coronary imaging and physiology, drug-coated balloon, structural heart intervention; The role of optimal medical treatment in intervention; The role of nursing in interventional cardiology.

Speaking at the conference, Professor, Doctor, Doctor Pham Manh Hung - President of the Vietnam Association of Interventional Cardiology said that in the past 2 years, the number of cases requiring cardiovascular intervention in Vietnam has increased by nearly 20% compared to previous years, especially cases of acute myocardial infarction and coronary artery disease.

Currently, it is estimated that more than 1.3 million Vietnamese people are living with coronary artery disease, and each year, nearly 100,000 patients undergo interventional cardiovascular procedures, of which 40,000 - 50,000 coronary stent interventions are performed to save patients' lives.

In addition, the number of patients receiving intervention for other cardiovascular diseases is also increasing rapidly, such as rhythm intervention, structural heart disease intervention, large blood vessel and peripheral blood vessel intervention, etc.
