On the morning of June 18, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization of Vinh Long province held the Opening Ceremony of the "Red Journey" and "Pink Drops Festival on Vinh Long Land" programs in 2025 at Pham Hung Political School. This is the third time Vinh Long province has participated in the Red Journey - a national voluntary blood donation program.
Mr. Nguyen Tuan Khoi - Deputy Head of the Central Red Journey Organizing Committee said that after more than a decade, the Red Journey with the message "Connecting Vietnamese Blood Flow" has become the largest campaign to mobilize and organize blood donation in Vietnam, spreading to 59 provinces/cities, attracting millions of participants and receiving over 940,000 units of blood.
Vinh Long is proud to be a part of that journey, with 2 successful organizations and this year being the 3rd time accompanying. Each drop of pink blood has been dyed with charity, connecting millions of hearts across the country, said Mr. Nguyen Tuan Khoi.
Ms. Ho Thi Thu Hang - Director of the Department of Health of Vinh Long province informed that in 2024 to now, the amount of blood mobilized and received will reach 11,549 units, of which over 99% will come from voluntary blood donors, equivalent to nearly 1.11% of the province's population participating in blood donation.
For the first months of 2025, the whole province has mobilized and received 4,855 units of blood, culminating with the Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign for Tet, the Red Spring Festival, the National Blood Donation Day for Love 7.4, the Red - Summer Blood Drops Campaign.
On average, more than 20,000 people register to donate blood each year and the amount of blood received is about 10,000 units. The number of people who have donated blood repeatedly has increased with over 1,300 people having donated 20 times, 30 times, 40 times, 50 times. The person who donated the most blood was 62. The number of families who have donated blood 20 times or more is over 200 families. In particular, the number of people registered to donate tissues, organs, and human body parts mobilized by the Red Cross Society at all levels and have been granted cards by the National Coordinating Center is currently over 200 people, the Director of the Department of Health of Vinh Long province stated.
The blood donation festival "Red Drops on Vinh Long Land" was successfully organized, bringing in 183 units of blood for emergency care and treatment.
In 2025, the 13th Red Journey will continue its journey in 49 provinces and cities. Before coming to Vinh Long, 17 provinces/cities had deployed and received more than 10,000 units of blood during major festivals, along with thousands of units of blood from response activities.
