In round 11 of La Liga, Real Madrid hosted Barcelona at home. The much-anticipated Clasico turned out to be a very one-sided affair. There, Hansi Flick and his team destroyed Real with a score of 4-0, thereby widening the gap between the two teams to 6 points in the rankings.
Young talent Lamine Yamal scored a goal in this match. At 17 years and 106 days, Yamal officially set the record for the youngest player to score in El Clasico. This record stood for 77 years and was previously held by Navarro, who scored at 17 years and 365 days.
After the match, Yamal expressed his joy and did not forget to mock the Real Madrid fans, according to Mundo Deportivo: “When I scored, the Real Madrid fans exclaimed ‘We thought you didn’t know how to use your right foot’. It was nice to hear more noise from the Barcelona fans, right in the opponent’s home ground.”
Barcelona had a great start to the season, winning back-to-back games. But according to Yamal, it was only after they defeated Bayern 4-1 and Real Madrid 4-0 that Hansi Flick's team finally dispelled all doubts.
“When we won at the beginning of the season, people said we were only beating average teams,” he said. “But now Barcelona have destroyed the two best teams in the world in just one week. Real Madrid and Bayern suffered the same fate and that shows how well we prepared.”
