Implementing the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch No. 65/CD-TTg dated May 15, 2025 on launching a peak period of fighting to prevent and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights, Can Tho City has implemented many inspection activities in the area.
As of June 24, the city's authorities have conducted 182 inspections. Thereby, 41 violations were detected and handled, with a total fine paid to the state budget of more than 866 million VND.
The total value of the discovered infringing goods was more than VND 19.756 billion; the value of the destroyed goods was about VND 43 million.
The main violating items include: food, medicine, functional foods, cosmetics, smuggled cigarettes, frozen seafood, fertilizers, liquefied petroleum gas, clothes, handbags and a number of other items.
During the inspection, the authorities took samples and sent them to the testing agency to assess the quality of 10 product samples.
These include: bone marrow, frozen pork from Poland, beef balls, fertilizers, starch and two beer models. Currently, some samples are still waiting for testing results.
Previously, on May 26, 2025, the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City issued Decisions No. 133 and 134/QD-SCT on the establishment of two interdisciplinary inspection teams to carry out the peak of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the city.
The members of the interdisciplinary inspection team include representatives of departments and branches: Agriculture, Science and Technology, Health, Department Inspectorate, City Police... to ensure comprehensive and effective inspection work.

Mr. Le Hoai Nha - Deputy Head of the Market Management Department of Can Tho City - said: "All inspections this time are conducted suddenly and unexpectedly. Common violations are trading in smuggled goods, goods of unknown origin, goods that infringe intellectual property rights and trademark infringements".
"In the coming time, the authorities will continue to coordinate with the inter-sectoral sector to inspect and control the market. At the same time, maintain the operation of hotline numbers to receive feedback from people, resolutely handle violations in accordance with legal regulations, without prohibited areas."
