Recently, the complicated disease situation in animals has caused pig farmers to face many risks and challenges, but pork prices in the market have also increased.
Recorded at traditional markets in Can Tho City such as Ba Bo, Tan An... the current price of pork ranges from 105,000 - 215,000 VND/kg. At stores and supermarkets, the price of pork ranges from 105,000 - 263,000 VND/kg, depending on the type.
Although pork prices have increased, according to traders, consumption at slaughterhouses and traditional markets has decreased by 15-20% compared to the same period last year. The reason is that the impact of the epidemic has made consumers hesitant, partly because of the diversity of markets during the flood season.
Ms. Nguyen Thi My - a trader at Ba Bo market, Binh Thuy district, Can Tho city - said: "The meat at the market is all quarantined, has clear origin, has stamps, moreover, I have been selling for a long time, all customers are regulars so they also feel secure when choosing."

At the end of the year, although meat products such as sausages, ham, etc. are sold bustlingly, with a variety of prices and designs. To ensure the safety of her family, Ms. Truong Yen Vi - a tutor at a center in Vi Thanh City, Hau Giang Province - considers carefully when choosing food.
"With fresh meat at the market, I can smell it and look at its color to know how fresh it is, but it's hard to know the quality of processed meat. Therefore, when I go to the market, I often choose supermarkets and products with clear origins to buy for safety," said Ms. Vi.
