As Lunar New Year 2025 approaches, seafood prices in Da Nang have fluctuated sharply. Vegetable prices have also increased in traditional markets.

As the Lunar New Year 2025 approaches, the demand for food gifts and reserves among Da Nang residents increases. Meanwhile, the unstable supply of seafood during this time causes the prices of some types of fish to increase and change every day.

At Con Market (Hai Chau District), the price of mackerel and pomfret increased by 30,000 VND to 50,000 VND/kg. “The price of fish now changes every day. Since the full moon of the twelfth lunar month, the price of fish has changed every day, sometimes this price in the morning and another price in the afternoon,” said Ms. Tran Thi Minh, a trader at the market.

According to Ms. Minh, in the past 5 days, the price of mackerel has increased from 200,000 to 270,000 VND/kg. The price of pomfret has increased to 150,000 VND/kg. People who buy these types of fish often use them as gifts or freeze them to prepare New Year's Eve dishes and daily offerings during Tet. Of which, big-eye tuna costs from 135,000 VND - 150,000 VND, and striped halibut costs 250,000 VND/kg.

At Nguyen Tri Phuong market (Hai Chau district), vegetable prices have also increased. "Just a medium-sized bitter melon costs 30,000 VND, a bunch of Malabar spinach costs 20,000 VND. Because vegetable prices have increased, I plan to go back to buy goods such as vegetables, tubers, and meat for Tet," said Nguyen Thi Hoa My, a resident of Da Nang City.

Previously, on January 25, the Department of Industry and Trade of Da Nang City organized the sale of pork, beef, and eggs at 14 locations. This is one of the activities to stabilize the market for the Lunar New Year 2025 in the city.

Specifically: Hai Chau district: 407 Trung Nu Vuong, Nguyen Tri Phuong market, Dong Da market, 36 Luong Nhu Hoc; Son Tra district: Tho Quang ward People's Committee, 33 Nguyen Duy Hieu; Cam Le district: Cam Le market, Hoa An market; Thanh Khe district: 262 Cu Chinh Lan, 178 Tran Cao Van, Phu Loc market; Ngu Hanh Son district: Bac My An market; Lien Chieu district: Hoa Khanh market; Hoa Vang district: Tuy Loan market.

The points of sale will be held from now until January 27, with pork (butt, shoulder, belly); beef (thigh, flank, ribs); and chicken eggs. At each point of sale, there will be a banner announcing and a specific price list.
