Recently, nearly 170 teams from all over the country gathered at the University of Technology - Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City to compete in the Final Round of the 2025 National Robocon ORC competition. This playground marks a new step in the journey to bring robots closer to Vietnamese students.
The Robocon ORC 2025 contest has the theme "Joining hands to build a sustainable development world" with tasks related to waste treatment and production materials. The teams used automatic robots and hand controls to operate, move, and classify materials within limited time.
Notably, this is one of the few robot competitions with a comprehensive scale, divided into three competition boards suitable for each level: primary school (Junior), secondary school - high school (Explorer) and master's students. In total, the playground attracted 49 Junior teams, 82 Explorer teams and 44 Master teams.
Associate Professor, Dr. Thoai Nam - Director of the Accounting Center, University of Technology, Co-Head of the Organizing Committee - shared: "We want to emphasize that good equipment does not necessarily bring victory. The important thing is the creative thinking and tactics of the team.
To encourage STEM spirit, the Organizing Committee supports teams with robot manufacturing equipment, except for the Master table that must be fully prepared. The robots used include Rover (Jared), ORC K2 (Explorer) and ORC K3 (Master).
The contest took place in an alliance - two teams randomly paired up to compete. After the scoring round, the 32 teams with the highest scores will enter the knockout round, together aiming for the championship.
In the Junior group, the championship belonged to the GreenBot 3 team alliance and Ai Mo A Primary School (Hanoi) after impressive performances. In the Explorer group, the two teams from Tran Nhat Duat Secondary School (Khanh Hoa) - TND1 and TND2 - excellently won the championship trophy. Meanwhile, the Master's table witnessed the convincing victory of the UPT - Labor and UPT - PT alliances from Phan Thiet University (Lam Dong), affirming the students' abilities and bravery in the most advanced technology playground of the competition.
Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Ky Phuong Ha - Vice Principal of the University of Technology - emphasized: "Not just a competition, Robocon ORC is a hands-on learning space, helping students practice thinking, teamwork skills and creativity - essential factors of human resources in the 21st century".
With strong influence, Robocon ORC 2025 is not only a place to launch a passion for technology, but also a launching pad for the younger generation towards a promising future in the robotics and automation industry.
