Nowadays, hand-knitted products from wool such as keychains, hair clips, animals, dolls, flowers, handbags... are becoming a phenomenon, a consumer trend and a new way of entertainment.
Many young people knit and crochet wool rolls by hand to create products, not only to satisfy their passion and creativity, but also to start a business from this job.
On social networks, the handmade knitting community is quite large, with groups having tens, even hundreds of thousands of participants.
In the group called “Hoc Len Association - Handmade Wool Pass” with 249,000 followers, there are a series of posts from members sharing extremely elaborate handmade works made from wool.
Through research, these handmade wool products are sold by many people at prices ranging from 30,000 - 500,000 VND, depending on the quality of the materials, mainly the wool yarn and the knitting time.
Thu Phuong, a member of this group, shared: “With crocheted products that require sophistication and creativity such as handbags, bouquets, Christmas accessories, dolls or animals, the time to complete will last from 3 to 5 days. But for those who are skillful, just making them for fun and posting them on the group can sell dozens of products, especially on holidays like Christmas.”
Warm Christmas Gift
At Hanoi night market stalls every weekend, crocheted wool products also attract many customers.
Nguyen The Ha, an employee at a crochet shop in Hanoi's Old Quarter, said that handmade crochet products are gradually becoming a new fashion trend, because the materials and colors give users a comfortable, youthful feeling, and the price is reasonable but no less luxurious, suitable for gifts on holidays.
According to this female employee, because they are handmade, crocheted products are also more expensive than products produced on other production lines. The cheapest price to own a product is about 50,000 - 70,000 VND. More complex models such as flower pots will cost about 200,000 - 300,000 VND depending on the model.
Normally, sunflowers and small flower pots are the most popular. On peak days, they can sell for 2-3 million VND/day.
Trung Dung, the owner of another crochet stall, shared that handmade crochet requires quite cheap materials, but in return requires skill, effort and meticulousness.
“Wool products are not only popular as gifts but can also be used as beautiful decorations in the home. I want to share this passion with everyone, and at the same time hope that you will appreciate the value of each needle and each thread of wool,” said Dung.
Currently, handmade crochet products receive a lot of interaction and good feedback from many customers because of their convenience, reasonable price and environmental friendliness. Not only that, seizing the moment when wool products are creating a "fever", many stores have organized workshops for customers to experience and make wool products themselves.
Mr. Phan Quoc Canh (living in Cau Giay, Hanoi) - said that this Christmas, instead of choosing elaborate gifts, he decided to make a woolen bouquet to give to his girlfriend. Because according to him, this handmade gift will bring a warm feeling, deeper meaning, more precious but still maintain the aesthetics and outstanding.
