On November 21, Kinh Ton & do thi Newspaper organized the Forum "Digital Economic Development: Opportunities and challenges in the new era". The forum attracted the participation of many policymakers, economic and technology experts and representatives of leading enterprises.
Speaking at the opening of the forum, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi - Editor-in-Chief of Kinh Ton & Urban Newspaper emphasized that in recent years, our Party and State have had very clear and consistent policies on digital transformation and digital economic development.
The Central Resolutions, including Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science - technology, innovation and national digital transformation; along with strategies, programs and projects such as the Digital Economy and Digital Society Development Strategy to 2025, with a vision to 2030, have set very specific goals, including the goal of bringing the proportion of the digital economy to 20% of GDP by 2025 and about 30% by 2030.
Those figures are not only a quantity indicator, but also a strong commitment to growth model innovation, relying more and more on knowledge, technology and innovation. The above goals can only become reality if they are realized through specific policies, feasible projects, pioneering models and especially the proactive and active participation of the business community - Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi emphasized.

Sharing at the Forum, Mr. Nguyen Phu Tien - Deputy Director of the Department of Digital Economy and Digital Society (Ministry of Science and Technology) said that the development of the digital economy is a national strategic goal to create a new growth model, based on data and digital technology. To realize this goal, there needs to be a synchronous chain of action: Science, technology and innovation must create momentum, digital transformation must be the implementation method and the digital economy must be the result achieved.
According to Mr. Nguyen Phu Tien, Vietnam is the country with the fastest digital economic growth rate in Southeast Asia for 3 consecutive years. According to the estimate of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the digital economic growth rate is about 20%/year, 3 times higher than the GDP growth rate, showing the role of the digital economy as a stabilization tool and to increase the resilience of the economy in the context of the global recession.
Mr. Nguyen Phu Tien called on businesses and universities and research institutes to strengthen cooperation in developing digital technology solutions, especially in the fields of AI, Big Data, cloud computing and IoT.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan - Director of the Center for E-commerce and Digital Technology Development (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that e-commerce is one of the fastest growing sectors in Vietnam, playing a leading role in digital transformation of enterprises and connecting domestic and international markets. E-commerce platforms have helped small and medium-sized enterprises reach customers, optimize operating processes and enhance governance capacity.
Meanwhile, Dr. Nguyen Duc Kien - Former Deputy Head of the National Assembly's Economic Committee analyzed that urban government is an important factor to promote the digital economy. Building a smart city, open data infrastructure, and policies to encourage digital businesses are the foundation for Hanoi to achieve the target of 30% GRDP from the digital economy by 2030.
In a related aspect, Dr. Mac Quoc Anh - Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Hanoi Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, analyzed the challenges for small and medium enterprises in digital transformation: From lack of digital infrastructure, limitations in management capacity, to difficulties in accessing capital and the digital market.
Mr. Mac Quoc Anh proposed policies to support, train digital human resources, consult digital transformation and connect with technology platforms so that small and medium enterprises can participate deeply in the global value chain.
