The ASEAN-Australia Centre, which opened in July, plays a central role in Australia’s relationship with the 10 ASEAN member states. It strengthens connections, fosters ties with cultural institutions, supports young leaders, promotes business cooperation and expands Australia’s trade and investment in the ASEAN region.
“With Monash’s global network, we have the ability to deliver impactful research and education that can make large-scale changes in lives and communities,” Professor Pickering said. “Monash University is a globally connected institution that actively contributes to Australia’s regional and global interests through education and research, fostering collaboration, innovation, and cultural understanding and exchange.”
“We have always been engaged with our communities, contributing to peace and prosperity, and promoting deeper understanding and closer ties. It is truly an honour to be able to continue and enhance this work through the ASEAN-Australia Centre,” she stressed.
