The People's Court of An Duong District tried defendant Luong Van Cuong (born in 2000, residing in Muong La District, Son La Province) for the crime of "Illegal trading of narcotics", stipulated in Clause 1, Article 249 of the Penal Code.
According to the indictment of the People's Procuracy of An Duong District, at about 12:30 on October 1, 2024, in Hoang Lau village, Hong Phong commune, An Duong district (now Hoang Lau residential group, Hong Phong ward, An Duong district), the authorities discovered Luong Van Cuong illegally possessing drugs.
At the investigation agency, Cuong confessed that at around 8:00 a.m. on November 11, 2024, Cuong took a motorbike taxi to the Tran Nguyen Han railway area in Le Chan district to buy from an unknown man a silver foil package containing Heroin and 3 blue tablets, 3 red tablets for 1,000,000 VND and returned to Hoang Lau area to find a place to use them, but was discovered and arrested by the police.
The trial panel sentenced defendant Luong Van Cuong to 24 months in prison for the crime of "Illegal possession of narcotics" under Point i, Clause 1, Article 249 of the Penal Code.
In the second case, the People's Court of An Duong District tried defendant Tran Van Hiep (born in 1987, residing in An Hai Ward, An Duong District) for the crime of "Illegal possession of narcotics", according to the provisions of Point c, Clause 1, Article 249 of the Penal Code.
According to the case file, at around 12:15 on December 25, 2024, in Van Cu village, An Dong commune, now Van Cu residential group, An Dong ward, An Duong district), the authorities caught Tran Van Hiep red-handed for illegally storing drugs. At the scene, the police seized a 2x2cm white plastic bag containing a white crystalline drug called Methamphetamine, weighing 0.29 grams.
Defendant Tran Van Hiep was sentenced to 18 months in prison for the crime of "Illegal possession of narcotics" as prescribed in Point c, Clause 1, Article 249 of the Penal Code.
