Dak Lak - Many potential dangers lurk on the roads in Dak Lak during the peak coffee harvest season of the 2024 - 2025 crop year.

People are worried about agricultural vehicles

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Quang - a bus driver in Dak Lak province - shared: "During the coffee harvest season, on National Highway 14, through the districts of Ea H'Leo and Krong Buk, we drivers have to be very careful. Because there are a lot of agricultural vehicles circulating, day and night."

"Many times it was dark, the farm vehicles had no lights or reflectors... like mobile iron blocks rushing straight from the village road to the national highway. These situations were very dangerous, the potential risk of traffic accidents was very high" - Mr. Quang added.

On Highway 27 from Buon Ma Thuot city (Dak Lak province) to Khanh Hoa, at the end of the year, there are also many agricultural vehicles moving with quite high frequency.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung (residing in Krong Pac district) said in frustration: "Now, when I go from my house to National Highway 27, I also choose a time when there are few vehicles to go. One afternoon, as soon as I got from the inter-village road to the national highway, I saw passenger cars and trucks honking loudly. The drivers asked the slow-moving agricultural vehicles to give way."

"The National Highway was already not wide, but now it is full of trucks. Many spots are showing signs of deterioration and need to be upgraded and repaired," said Mr. Dung.

According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Lak province, the local coffee area is about 210,000 hectares. The average annual output is over 500,000 tons of beans. In the 2024-2025 crop year, coffee output may decrease by 5-10% compared to the previous crop year due to the impact of harsh weather.

Signed a commitment with more than 6,000 farm vehicle owners

According to Lieutenant Colonel Kieu Manh Hung - Head of Krong Pac District Police, the locality has a large coffee area and a large number of agricultural vehicles. During the harvest season, the authorities direct increased patrols and control of agricultural vehicles to ensure traffic safety on commune roads and National Highway 27.
