On April 17, the Office of the Investigation Police Agency of Binh Thuan Province Police announced that it had arrested wanted suspect Nguyen Van Thanh while he was hiding in Long An Province.
According to the records, in 2023, Nguyen Van Thanh (born in 1991, residing in Tan Hai commune, La Gi town) and his accomplices committed the act of "Extortion of property" of people purchasing seafood in the beach area of Tan Thanh commune, Ham Thuan Nam district when they were caught red-handed by the police.
After the investigation and prosecution process, in September 2024, the People's Court of Binh Thuan province held an appeal trial and sentenced Nguyen Van Thanh to 1 year and 6 months in prison for the crime of "Extortion of property".
While on bail awaiting execution of the sentence, Thanh fled the locality. On November 29, 2024, the Criminal Enforcement Agency of Binh Thuan Provincial Police issued a wanted notice for Nguyen Van Thanh.
Using professional measures, the Office of the Investigation Police Agency of Binh Thuan Provincial Police coordinated with Long An Provincial Police to arrest Nguyen Van Thanh while he was hiding in Binh Hiep Commune, Kien Tuong Town, Long An Province. The subject has been transferred by Binh Thuan Provincial Police to work and handle according to the law.
