On November 20, Vinh Long Provincial Police said that An Phu Tan Commune Police had just coordinated with the Provincial Police Investigation Agency to execute an order to temporarily detain Nguyen Thi Nghiep (born in 1964), residing in Tan Qui 1 Hamlet, An Phu Tan Commune, for gambling.
According to the case file, at 2:30 p.m. on September 3, An Phu Tan Commune Police conducted an inspection at the house of Ms. T.T.H (residing locally) and discovered 04 people gambling illegally. The form of gambling is 6-line Indian players, winning and losing money.
Checking at the scene, the police seized a set of cards (52 leaves) and 1,300,000 VND. The authorities made a record of temporary seizure of the exhibits and invited the 4 people involved to the police station for questioning.
The investigation process showed that Nguyen Thi Nghiep had participated in gambling many times. Most recently, on February 12, she was sentenced to 1 year of non-custodial reform by the People's Court of Cau Ke district, Tra Vinh province (now the People's Court of Region 12 - Vinh Long province) and an additional fine of VND 10,000,000.
On September 3, Ms. Nghiep continued to commit illegal gambling. Currently, the police agency has issued a decision to temporarily detain to continue investigating and handling according to the provisions of law.
