At 10:50 a.m. the same day, in Ngan Ro 1 Hamlet, Tran De Commune (Can Tho City), the Trung Binh Border Guard Station Working Group coordinated with the Department of Professional Affairs, Can Tho City Border Guard and Tran De Commune Police to catch red-handed Ms. Truong Thi T (born in 1962), permanent resident in Nguyen Tang Hamlet, Cu Lao Dung Commune (Can Tho City), transporting 500 packs of smuggled cigarettes.
The working group drew up a record of the incident, seized the evidence and invited the subject to the Border Guard Station to continue investigating and handling according to the provisions of law.
According to initial statements, the above smuggled cigarettes were purchased by the subject from a man with an unknown name and address in the area of Ngan Ro 1 bridge dam, Ngan Ro 1 hamlet, Tran De commune, to sell for profit.
Previously, on December 15, the Can Tho City Border Guard Command held a launching ceremony for the peak emulation campaign to fight against crime prevention and control; prevent and combat drugs, human trafficking; combat smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2026.
The peak emulation period will take place from November 25, 2025 to February 28, 2026, aiming to enhance the sense of responsibility and determination of officers and soldiers in performing the task of managing and protecting sovereignty and security of the border; maintaining political security, social order and safety in the border area and coastal areas of the city, contributing to the people celebrating the traditional New Year safely and healthily.
