Can Tho proactively prevents traffic congestion and accidents before National Day

Can Tho synchronously deploys patrol, control and propaganda measures to ensure traffic safety during the National Day holiday on September 2.

In order to ensure traffic order and safety during the National Day on September 2 and the peak month of school attendance, the People's Committee of Can Tho City has just issued an official dispatch requesting departments, branches, localities and socio-political organizations to synchronously deploy measures to prevent and combat traffic congestion and accidents. The official dispatch is implemented according to Official Dispatch No. 139/CD-TTg of the Prime Minister.

Accordingly, the City Police force has increased patrols, control, and strictly handle violations that directly cause accidents such as violations of alcohol concentration, drugs, speeding, while preventing disturbances, illegal racing, combating law enforcement officers and regulating traffic smoothly, especially on high-volume routes.

The Department of Construction directs transport units to ensure capacity and service quality, especially passenger transport by road and waterway, strictly managing from the beginning of the wharf and yard. Coordinate to renovate, improve infrastructure safety, fix incidents, repair damage, improve drainage and organize traffic reasonably. On-duty staff, guides and warning systems are fully deployed to ensure safety and smoothness.

The City Traffic Safety Committee (TSC) promotes traffic safety propaganda through media, social networks, billboards, banners, and posters; instructing students on skills to participate in traffic. The models "Traffic Safety Carpet", "Safe Intersection", "Safe School Gate" were deployed, along with the Interdisciplinary Inspection Team to monitor road, urban and waterway traffic safety.

The Department of Education and Training coordinates with departments, branches and localities to implement the "Traffic Safety Peak Month for students going to school", strengthen education on safe traffic skills, remind students to comply with the law when driving electric motorbikes and electric bicycles, coordinate with parents to sign a commitment to comply with traffic safety and not hand over vehicles to children who are not old enough or do not have a license.

Communes and wards have increased propaganda and mobilized people and tourists to comply with traffic safety and order, coordinated with families and schools to manage students, and proactively organized smooth traffic in high-risk areas.

The units also announced the hotline phone number to receive feedback, 24/7 on-duty and report the situation from August 30 to September 2, 2025 for synthesis and reporting to the City People's Committee and the National Traffic Safety Committee.
