On the afternoon of July 30, at the press conference for the second quarter of 2025 organized by the People's Committee of Can Tho City, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Viet Nga - Deputy Director of the Can Tho Department of Health - informed about the completion of the Steering Committee for voluntary blood donation at all levels.

Recently, on July 9, the Office of the People's Committee of Can Tho City issued Official Letter No. 121 to the City Red Cross Society (Standing Agency of the City's Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign Steering Committee) as well as People's Committees at the commune and ward levels.
In the document, the Office of the City People's Committee requested the City Red Cross Society and the People's Committees of communes and wards to urgently complete the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation at all levels according to the new administrative unit; fully implement the work to ensure the targets assigned by the National Blood Donation Campaign Committee to Can Tho City.
Previously, on June 23, informing Lao Dong, Can Tho City Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital said that based on the actual situation, from the beginning of April 2025, the amount of blood received has decreased significantly, reaching only about 60% compared to the registered amount. The reason is that the work of propaganda, mobilization, and organization of voluntary blood donation in localities is facing many difficulties.

To ensure a stable blood supply and promptly serve the emergency and treatment of patients in the Mekong Delta, Can Tho City Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital has a document on strengthening the mobilization and organization of voluntary blood donation. The document was sent to the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign, the Red Cross Society, the Department of Health, hospitals and medical centers of 11 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta.
