The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) of Can Tho City has just issued a document on strengthening the prevention and control of animal diseases and vaccination of livestock.
Accordingly, the Department requested the People's Committees of districts and towns to direct specialized departments and People's Committees of communes, wards and towns to coordinate with veterinary forces to organize accurate statistics of the total livestock herd and the number of livestock subject to vaccination; promote mass vaccination in the second phase of 2024.
At the same time, organize well the information and propaganda work on the dangerous nature of epidemics, the benefits of vaccination for livestock, regulations on penalties for cases of non-compliance with vaccination for livestock; guide livestock farmers to implement disease prevention measures...
In particular, establish a working group to go to localities and high-risk areas to inspect and urge the work of preventing and controlling animal diseases; inspect and rectify vaccination work, monitor and report epidemics.
The Department also assigned the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Branch to proactively coordinate with relevant agencies, units and localities to advise the Department to develop a plan to proactively prevent and control livestock and poultry diseases in 2025 and the following years; Direct the veterinary force of districts, communes, wards and towns to coordinate with local forces to organize accurate statistics of the total livestock herd, promote vaccination work, and ensure that at least 80% of livestock herds are fully vaccinated with the right type of vaccine at the time of vaccination.
Proactively organize disease surveillance in livestock to detect early, promptly warn, and thoroughly handle when new diseases are discovered, on a small scale; strictly handle cases of not reporting diseases, selling, slaughtering sick or suspected sick animals, and dumping animal carcasses into the environment, causing disease spread.
