From April 21 to 25, the Command (BTL) of Coast Guard Region 4 coordinated with the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee to organize a series of activities to propagate, disseminate and educate the law on combating IUU violations and the Law on the Vietnam Coast Guard in 9 communes and wards in the province.
This is a practical activity to achieve achievements to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), while promoting propaganda against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
At the propaganda points, the Working Group of the Coast Guard Region 4 Command organized many diverse and diverse forms and propaganda activities such as: Watching reports on the drastic fight against IUU fishing; organizing direct propaganda conferences at the hall combined with exchanges and grasp of the situation of fishermen's seafood exploitation activities and distributing leaflets and handbooks to propagate the law; mobilizing vehicle owners and captains of fishing vessels to sign a commitment not to violate IUU...
In particular, the Propaganda Team went directly to fishing ports and boat mooring areas to propagate and give gifts to fishermen.
On this occasion, the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 presented 70 gifts (each worth 1 million VND) to fishermen in difficult circumstances and presented nearly 1,000 national flags, 100 photos of Uncle Ho, 100 medical bags to support and encourage fishermen to feel secure in going out to sea. Along with that, the unit has also distributed more than 1,300 leaflets and handbooks to propagate the law to fishermen.
Through the propaganda to raise awareness and responsibility for cadres, party members and fishermen, especially the owner of the vehicle and captain in the area of the provisions of the law on the combat of IUU violations and the Vietnam Coast Guard Law. Thereby, raising the awareness of law observance, actively contributing to the political system to remove the yellow card of the European Commission (EC) for Vietnam's fisheries industry.
Colonel Duong Xuan Dung, Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of the Coast Guard Region 4 Command, Head of the Working Group of the Coast Guard Region 4 Command, said: "In the coming time, the Coast Guard Region 4 Command will continue to make efforts and closely coordinate with Party committees, authorities and authorities of localities in the area, resolutely implementing measures to combat IUU violations, including propaganda work".
