On April 4, My Thanh Ward Police, Long Xuyen City, An Giang Province, confirmed that they had just verified, quickly investigated, and arrested Huynh Nam Quoc - the subject who broke into a house to steal money to buy drugs.
According to the investigation results, on the evening of April 3, 2025, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy (born in 1979, residing in Hoa Thanh Hamlet, My Thanh Ward, Long Xuyen City) went to My Thanh Ward Police to report that a thief had broken into her house and stolen more than 50 million VND. After receiving the report, through the management of the area and subject, My Thanh Ward Police quickly identified Huynh Nam Quoc (born in 1983, residing in the locality) as a suspect and invited him to the headquarters for questioning.
Initially, Quoc was won over and did not admit it, but with professional measures and documents and evidence collected during the verification process, Quoc confessed: Due to no money to spend, Quoc had the idea of stealing property. Knowing that Ms. Thuy's house was often away from home, at around 07:00 on April 3, 2025, she climbed through a ventilation hole and broke into Ms. Thuy's house to steal the above amount. Quoc used the stolen money for personal expenses, bought a mobile phone, headphones, a phone charger and bought drugs.
Immediately afterwards, the ward police recovered more than 43 million VND in cash and related exhibits. It is known that Quoc has 2 previous convictions for "Theft of property" and "Illegal possession of narcotics".
