According to Mr. Le Duc Huy - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Simexco Daklak, the timely intervention of the authorities has helped protect the local economy.

Enterprises in the coffee industry have steadily developed, increased product value and built an increasingly strong Vietnamese coffee brand.

Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that after a period of monitoring, the authorities discovered a grocery store in Buon Ma Thuot city selling more than 100kg of coffee powder.

These goods carry the brands Phat Hai Coffee powder and Phat Hai Coffee (both of Phat Hai Production, Trade and Service Company).

The working group took coffee samples and quickly tested the results showing that the caffeine content was only 0.41% - 0.46% - much lower than the content recorded on the packaging of ≥ 1%.

Immediately afterwards, the police agency urgently searched the production location of the company's branch in Binh Duong province and the headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City.

Here, the police force seized more than 2,800 packages of coffee powder, 7,500kg of soybeans, 5,500kg of ground coffee beans, 2,000kg of roasted soy mixture ingredients mixed with coffee crust and many exhibits.

Initial investigation results determined that Nguyen Thanh Hai, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Phat Hai Production, Trade and Service Company, used 10% of coffee beans and additives, 70% soybeans, and 20% of coffee husks to produce fake coffee.

The caffeine content is only 0.39% to 0.41% compared to the packaging recorded as 1%. Hai only hired and used relatives and relatives to make the grinding process.

The owner of the facility often changes the packaging design with reduced caffeine content ingredients that are not in accordance with regulations. This move is to deal with authorities.

The confiscated book shows that in just the first 11 months of 2024, Phat Hai Company Branch produced and sold 7 types of flour coffee to the market.

All of the goods do not ensure quality in terms of caffeine content, with a total of 344 tons, worth about 20 billion VND.
