On July 29, Colonel Bui Trung Thanh - Deputy Director, Head of the Investigation Police Agency of the City Police Department worked with the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department to assess the situation and results of the fight against drugs in the first 6 months of the year and the direction for the last 6 months of 2025.
In the first half of the year, the Drug Crime Investigation Police - City Police did a good job of grasping the situation, fighting to eradicate many inter-provincial and transnational drug rings, detecting and seizing a high number of synthetic drugs compared to the same period, reducing the structure of illegal drug possession crimes to 35.1%.
The City Police Department's Drug Crime Investigation Police force discovered and arrested 649 cases with 1,164 defendants committing drug crimes, a decrease of 36.3% compared to the same period in 2024, a decrease of 7.8% compared to the previous period, reaching 72.1% of the target assigned by the Ministry of Public Security... The seized exhibits include: 2.17 kg of heroin, 42.71 kg of synthetic drugs, 22.41 kg of marijuana, 317.45 grams of cocaine, 50 ml of methadone, 2.34 kg of American grass, 680.82 grams + 2,731.6 ml of synthetic marijuana essential oil, 56.7 grams of various drugs, 2 guns, 20 bullets, 3 cars, 111 motorbikes, 312 mobile phones, 28 electronic weights, 231 million VND and many other related exhibits. The Drug Crime Investigation Police force has investigated 1,024 cases with 1,818 defendants, prosecuted 649 new cases with 1,164 defendants; ended up transferring 661 cases with 1,169 defendants to the Procuracy, currently investigating 345 cases with 648 defendants.
Drug addiction treatment ensures normal operations from the time of receipt, preventing sudden, unexpected, or violations in facilities. From now until the end of the year, the Drug Crime Investigation Police force will focus on helping the City Police Director advise the City Party Committee and the City People's Committee to issue a new Resolution and a new Project on "building Hai Phong into a drug-free city". First of all, in 2025, it is necessary to accurately select 30% of communes, wards, and special zones to register to build drug-free commune-level areas.
The authorities review the locations for organizing and containing illegal drug use; subjects for illegal drug purchase and sale, develop plans, apply professional measures to combat eradication and inactivity; focus on grasping the situation of drug trafficking and illegal drug use groups in cyberspace... Along with that, continue to coordinate to exchange information throughout, ensuring quick and timely identification of new methods and tricks of drug crimes, "shelved" drugs, new drugs.
Concluding the meeting, Colonel Bui Trung Thanh requested the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department to focus on reviewing and continuing to drastically and synchronously implement professional measures, striving to successfully implement all targets assigned by the Ministry of Public Security and the Director of the City Police. In particular, focusing on innovating forms of propaganda and mobilization, raising public awareness of methods and tricks of drug criminals.
