On November 5, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Ho Quang Buu chaired a working session with relevant agencies and units on the situation and progress of implementing tasks on implementing the Vietnam ginseng development program until 2030, with a vision to 2045 and the Project "Developing and forming a pharmaceutical center of Quang Nam province with Ngoc Linh ginseng as the main crop".
According to the report, the planned area where Ngoc Linh ginseng can be grown in Da Nang city is 15,567 hectares. The Sam Ngoc Linh dietese has been surveyed and implemented in the communes of Tra Bui, Hung Son, Phuoc Thanh, La E.
To date, the area of Ngoc Linh ginseng conserved is 15 hectares, the number of Ngoc Linh ginseng trees with the original variety of 2 years or more is 281,129 trees. Regarding the development of growing areas, in recent times, it has developed with a total area of Ngoc Linh ginseng grown of about 1,294 hectares.
Currently, there are 10 enterprises in Da Nang City purchasing and processing Ngoc Linh ginseng. In general, there are still few and not many products. Therefore, in the coming time, it is necessary to focus on attracting large enterprises and investing in production combined with deep processing and diversifying products from this medicinal herb.
Regarding the implementation of the Project "Developing and forming a pharmaceutical industrial center of Quang Nam province with Ngoc Linh ginseng as the main plant", the Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang City has drafted a Research and Application Program for science and technology to develop Ngoc Linh ginseng and pharmaceutical products of Da Nang city for the period 2025-2030 and vision 2045.
This is the basis for developing the Program's tasks on developing growing areas, protecting genetic resources, tracing the origin, applying technical advances in deep processing and building a national brand for Ngoc Linh ginseng and medicinal herbs in the city.
The units also implemented many activities related to the project to build a tourist complex of Nam Tra My (old) and Tu M'rong (old) districts to integrate and link tourism with the introduction and promotion of products from ginseng and medicinal herbs in local tourism promotion and promotion programs.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee Ho Quang Buu also acknowledged and highly appreciated the initial results of the units in implementing the tasks.
