On November 21, Da Nang City held a workshop to give comments on the draft "Digital transformation project contributing to promoting and creating momentum for the socio-economic development of Da Nang city in the period of 2026-2030, with a vision to 2035", "Da Nang project - Innovation city" and "Da Nang city science and technology development project in the period of 2026-2030, with a vision to 2035".
The Overall Project on City Digital Transformation for the period 2026-2030 is a strategic project to shape the city's digital future, deeply integrating the contents of building a Smart City.
The digital transformation of Da Nang city has brought encouraging achievements on all three pillars: Digital government - Digital economy - Digital society. The results of the assessment of the quality of public administrative services in Da Nang city have been improved and enhanced every year, reaching nearly 100%.
The digital economy in 2024 accounts for 24% of the city's GRDP; exceeding the target set for 2025 (20%). The digital technology workforce is about 50,000 people, the force directly creating digital software and content products accounts for 45% of the city's total digital technology workforce.
The project sets a target by 2030 specifically: 100% of administrative procedures are eligible to provide full online public services; 100% of administrative procedures are proactively deployed, "no contact"; 100% of agencies achieve level 4 and 90% reach level 5 in data governance.
The digital economy accounts for 35-40% of the city's GRDP; 90% of the adult population has access to digital services in healthcare, education, smart transportation, etc. The total estimated budget for the Project's programs and tasks is VND 22,470 billion.
The project "Da Nang - Innovation City" aims to strive to be in the group of 300 innovative startup ecosystems globally by 2030; in the group of 5 localities leading in PII index; support the development of at least 600 projects and innovative startup enterprises; have at least 1 technology lion valued at 1 billion USD. Investment capital in creative startups and creative startup projects in Da Nang increased by about 6 to 7,000 billion VND compared to 2025.
For the Science and Technology Development Project, the budget for implementing tasks in the 2026-2030 period is expected to be more than 586 billion VND.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Ho Quang Buu - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City said that the city has been proactive and early in implementing digital transformation, building a smart city, innovative startups and achieving initial results.
For 4 consecutive years, it has been in the leading group of provincial digital transformation - DTI; in 2025, Da Nang has had a breakthrough, increasing 130 places to 766th place globally, and in the Top 1,000 typical cities globally in the startup ecosystem (according to StartupBlink).
"Inheriting the results and foundations achieved so far; implementing the Central Government's policies and the City's strategy in developing breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation; Da Nang City has implemented the development of 3 projects: on science, technology, digital transformation and innovation in the period of 2026-2030 and orientation to 2035", Mr. Buu emphasized.
