On July 29, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Nam Hung inspected the actual work of preventing and combating African swine fever in Xuan Phu commune, together with leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the City Department of Agriculture.
According to Chairman of Xuan Phu Commune People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, currently 26/27 villages in the area have an epidemic, forcing the destruction of nearly 900 pigs, with a total weight of nearly 70 tons. The locality has received 360 liters of chemicals, implemented spraying to disinfect barns, environment, outbreaks and destruction sites.
Three teams have been established to destroy dead and sick pigs, including one mobilized from the 574th Armored Brigade. The commune has also established a mobile checkpoint team, inspected markets and trading points, and invited slaughterhouses and market management boards to thoroughly grasp regulations on epidemic prevention.

Through the inspection, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Nam Hung requested Xuan Phu commune to strictly implement the 4-on-site motto; prepare adequate materials and equipment for epidemic prevention; continue to propagate people not to transport or consume sick pigs.
He requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the City Department of Agriculture to provide enough materials, chemicals, and means for communes, especially in border areas with epidemics; to prevent new outbreaks. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen supervision, assign staff to closely monitor the area, guide the destruction according to regulations and soon have a vaccine plan for African swine fever.
According to the city's Department of Agriculture, by July 28, the epidemic had appeared in 39 communes and wards with 271 villages and blocks; nearly 4,800 pigs were forced to be destroyed, with a total weight of nearly 310 tons.
