A Foxconn plant has added 30,000 jobs in just a few months, as iPhone manufacturing and export output from India has increased rapidly.

According to Indian media, the world's leading contract iPhone maker Foxconn has hired nearly 30,000 workers at its new iPhone assembly plant near Bengaluru in just 8 to 9 months in 2025. This is the factory with the fastest recruitment rate ever in India

The factory is named Devanahalli, which is mainly female workers, recruiting workers aged 19 to 24. This iPhone manufacturing facility has an area of over 300 British models, starting a trial production of iPhone 16 models in May-May 2025. Currently, it is assembling the latest iPhone 17 Pro Max products.

Foxconn has built six large housing areas to accommodate workers, some have been put into operation, and others are under construction. When the factory reaches its maximum capacity next year, it is expected to recruit up to 50,000 people.

With the expansion plan, Devanahalli is expected to have more female workers at a location than any other government or private institution in India. Workers have already relocated from neighboring states, and the complex is expected to develop into a miniature urban area with housing, healthcare, education and entertainment amenities.

Workers are provided with free accommodation, subsidized meals and an average salary of about 18,000 Rupee/month (nearly 5.4 million VND), among the highest for women working in industrial production industries.

Foxconn is investing nearly $2.4 billion in this project, expected to become the largest factory in India in terms of both staff and production capacity when fully operational. The facility is expected to have up to 10 iPhone assembly lines, compared to about four currently, and will surpass Foxconn's existing iPhone factory in Tamil Nadu.

Foxconn's strong investment in the Devanahalli factory also reflects Apple's efforts to diversify its supply chain beyond China. It is expected that more than 4/5 of the phones produced at this factory will be exported abroad.

Apple's business activities in India are supported by a supply chain of nearly 45 companies, ranging from component manufacturing, auxiliary assembly to logistics.

New employees undergo six weeks of on-site training before being put into the production line, as Apple partners to build skills and strengthen the local production ecosystem.
