Thousands of grassroots security teams help detect and fight crimes

In recent times, more than 4,300 grassroots security teams (in Thanh Hoa province) have promoted their effectiveness in ensuring security and order, especially in preventing and combating crimes.

According to Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, up to now, the whole province has established 4,351 security and order protection teams (ANTT) with about 13,000 members. In each village and residential group, a security and order protection team of 3 members is established independently, not concurrently, to support the police of communes, wards and towns in grasping the security and order situation, building a movement for the entire people to protect national security.

In addition, the security and order protection team also participates in mobilizing and educating people who have violated the law residing in the locality; supporting patrols to ensure security and order, traffic safety; fire prevention, fire fighting, rescue and administrative management of social order.

From July 1, 2024 to present, the security and order protection force at the grassroots level has provided the commune-level police with nearly 2,000 reports related to security and order, social evils, and domestic violence; detected and participated in resolving over 1,300 conflicts within the people. In addition, this force also participated in supporting more than 32,000 propaganda sessions; coordinating with the police to handle more than 100 cases related to security and order, fire prevention and fighting; mobilizing the recovery of 686 weapons, explosives and support tools.

In addition, security and order protection teams also coordinated with the commune-level police to manage, supervise and educate more than 5,000 people serving their sentences in communes, wards and towns; participated in more than 36,600 patrols; detected, prevented and handled 239 cases with signs of crime and law violations.

One typical example is Thuong Xuan town (Thuong Xuan district, Thanh Hoa province) - a locality with a large area, with 11 neighborhoods and more than 10,700 people. After establishing 11 grassroots security and order protection teams with 33 members, the work of grasping the situation and ensuring security and order at the grassroots level of the town police force has been more favorable and effective than before.

The work of managing the area, holding households and people is strictly implemented; conflicts within the people and incidents related to security and order in residential areas are all detected, prevented and handled promptly.

After nearly 1 year of operation, the security and order protection teams here have performed well with 6 groups of tasks, coordinating with Thuong Xuan Town Police to organize more than 2,700 armed patrols to ensure security and order. Thereby, promptly detecting and dispersing groups of young people gathering with signs of causing disorder; effectively mediating many conflicts at the grassroots level, avoiding complicated situations.

Lieutenant Colonel Vi Van Tu - Deputy Head of Thuong Xuan Town Police said that the establishment of security and order protection teams at the grassroots level has helped the police force grasp the situation, detect violations of the law early, and contribute to ensuring security right at the grassroots level.
