According to information from Tan Long Commune Police (Phung Hiep District, Hau Giang Province), on October 16, the unit received a rare Cao Cat bird voluntarily handed over by a citizen in the commune.
Accordingly, Ms. M.T.H (Phung Son hamlet, Tan Long commune, Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang province) discovered a strange individual in her garden so she went to the police to report it.
At the police station, when informed that this was a rare bird, on the list of wild animals that need protection, Ms. H voluntarily handed it over to the police so that timely protection measures could be taken.
The white-bellied Anthracoceros bird handed over by Ms. H weighs 0.5 kg, has the scientific name Anthracoceros, is classified in the Hornbill group in the List of endangered, precious and rare forest plants and animals prescribed in Decree No. 84/2021/ND-CP, dated September 22, 2021 of the Government.
Currently, Tan Long Commune Police have handed over the bird to Phung Hiep District Forest Protection Department for care and release into the natural environment.
