On the afternoon of February 27, Binh Thuan Provincial Police received the handover of state management functions of drug addiction treatment and post-rehabilitation management from the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs of the province.
In Binh Thuan province, there is a drug rehabilitation facility in Ham Thuan Bac district with a scale of 400 students, currently treating 381 students for compulsory drug addiction. Currently, the facility has completed the upgrade project to increase the capacity to 650 - 700 students.
Receiving the handover of this function, Binh Thuan Provincial Police assigned the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department to take charge. This is not only the receiving unit but also the unit responsible for comprehensive management and supervision to the implementation organization stage.
To avoid affecting drug addiction management and the lives of workers, the provincial police have arranged 13 police force officers, 10 conscripts and 35 contract workers. The Provincial Police signed labor contracts with 23 officers who are working and wish to stay and serve at the drug rehabilitation facility to work with the police officers and soldiers to carry out their duties. Then, synthesize the needs of labor contracts, consider the labor standards of the public security sector to continue signing contracts.
Speaking at the ceremony to receive and hand over, Colonel Huynh Ngoc Liem, Deputy Director and Head of the Investigation Police Agency of the Provincial Police, emphasized that transferring this function to the Provincial Police is not only an organizational change but also a strong reform, aiming to closely close the process of preventing, fighting, detecting, handling and managing illegal drug users to make drug prevention and control more comprehensive and effective, contributing to bringing a peaceful and happy life to the people.
Starting from March 1, 2025, Binh Thuan Provincial Police officially perform the function of state management of drug addiction treatment and post-drug addiction management handed over from the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs of the province.
Binh Thuan Provincial Police will tighten discipline, prevent drugs from penetrating into drug rehabilitation facilities and focus on effective management, ensure drug rehabilitation work in accordance with regulations, help drug addicts rebuild their lives.
