Compliance with other food safety laws is also checked. The authorities may take product samples for testing of food hygiene and safety when necessary.
Time for surprise inspection in Quarter I and II of 2025.
In December 2024, the Economic Police Department, Dak Lak Provincial Police, inspected and discovered 6 establishments in Buon Ma Thuot city using the active ingredient 6-Benzylaminopurine to produce bean sprouts (a stimulant not on the list of substances permitted for use in food production and pesticides in Vietnam).
In 2024, these establishments supplied about 2,900 tons of bean sprouts containing toxic chemicals to the market, mainly wholesaled to agents at Tan Hoa unit market (Buon Ma Thuot city) and then distributed to other districts, towns and cities. Notably, Lam Dao establishment, one of the 6 establishments violating the law, signed a contract to supply bean sprouts to the Bach Hoa Xanh supermarket system with an output of 350 - 400 kg per day.
