On October 1, Kien Giang Provincial Police held a launching ceremony to implement a peak campaign to ensure traffic safety and order among school-age children.
The peak period aims to mobilize the participation of the entire political system and raise the spirit and responsibility of the people in participating in ensuring traffic safety in general, and traffic safety among school-age children in particular. Thereby, we are determined to control and reduce traffic accidents, especially traffic accidents related to school-age children.
Recently, the situation of students violating traffic safety laws in the country in general and in Kien Giang province in particular has been complicated, with many unfortunate accidents occurring.
The peak period to ensure traffic safety and order takes place from October 1 to October 31, 2024.
The provincial traffic police will increase inspections and handle violations against middle and high school students; parents, guardians, and those who transfer vehicles to students when they do not meet the conditions. At the same time, handle vehicle owners and parents transporting students who violate regulations on road and inland waterway transport.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Colonel Nguyen Nhat Truong - Deputy Director of Kien Giang Provincial Police - emphasized: "The police of units and localities closely coordinate with local departments, branches and sectors to strengthen patrolling, controlling, propagating and educating students about traffic safety laws. Ensure that 100% of students understand and strictly comply with the provisions of the law when participating in traffic. Thereby forming the habit of voluntarily complying with traffic laws when participating in traffic among school-age children. Inspection and handling of violations are thoroughly implemented and maintained regularly, creating positive changes in awareness and consciousness of compliance with traffic safety laws of parents and students".
The authorities will patrol the main traffic routes in urban areas, district and provincial roads, national highways and areas near schools. Focus on handling violations such as: No driving license; not wearing helmets; carrying more people than the prescribed number; not obeying traffic light signals; driving sideways; going against traffic, weaving in and out; honking, revving the engine...
Parents who violate regulations by stopping or parking their vehicles on the road, on the sidewalk, or at crossroads, causing traffic jams and potential risks of accidents; resolutely not allowing the use of unsafe vehicles to pick up and drop off students...
In the field of inland waterways, Colonel Nguyen Nhat Truong requested the Traffic Police force to closely coordinate with functional agencies to patrol and control ports, wharves, and waterways that regularly transport students to school...
