On September 6, Lai Chau Provincial Police coordinated with functional forces to destroy thousands of moon cakes of unknown origin.

Previously, at 11:00 a.m. on September 4, an interdisciplinary inspection team chaired by Lai Chau Provincial Police in coordination with Market Management conducted an inspection of Nguyen Thi N's business household in Tan Hop village, Son Binh commune, Tam Duong district.

Here, the discovered goods were food including more than 1,400 moon cakes, soft cakes, sponge cakes of various types; 390 bottles of fruit yogurt and peanut milk; 1,470 packages of chicken feet with a total listed value on the product packaging of nearly 20 million VND.

All of these goods have foreign labels, but the owner of the establishment could not present invoices or documents proving their origin. Some of the products had torn packaging, were damp, had white mold, and showed signs of damage. The owner of the establishment said that the above goods were bought on the market to sell to people during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The inspection team made a record of temporary seizure of exhibits and issued a decision to administratively fine the business owner Nguyen Thi N VND 10 million; at the same time, forced the destruction of all food and goods in violation.
