Veterinary agencies coordinate with local authorities to focus on preventing African swine fever outbreaks in Ha Tinh.

Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam - Head of Veterinary Management Department, Ha Tinh Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Branch - said that African swine fever appeared in Thach Lac and Nam Dien communes (Thach Ha district), causing 30 pigs to die and be destroyed. Of which, in Thach Lac commune, 27 pigs had to be destroyed.

“Immediately after the discovery, the veterinary agency together with the local authorities focused on measures to contain and prevent the epidemic. Up to now, the epidemic has passed 10 days in those two communes but no new outbreaks have occurred,” Mr. Nam shared.

Since the beginning of 2024, in Ha Tinh province, African swine fever has appeared in some communes of Nghi Xuan, Cam Xuyen, and Thach Ha districts, causing dozens of pigs to die and be destroyed.

According to Mr. Nam, the African swine fever situation in Ha Tinh appears mainly in some small-scale livestock farms and has not appeared in large-scale livestock farms.

According to Mr. Nam, compared to many other provinces and cities in the country, the African swine fever outbreak in Ha Tinh is still at a relatively low level.

The reason is that the vaccination rate is high, when an epidemic occurs, it is detected promptly and there is a high focus on preventing the outbreak and spread of the epidemic.
