According to report No. 806 of the Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee, as of December 2024, Ben Tre has detected 914 crimes in various fields. Authorities have investigated and clarified 733 cases. In addition, 156 road traffic accidents occurred in the area, killing 136 people and injuring 25 people.
The work of preventing and combating drug crimes and evils has been focused on, eliminating 204 cases, with 547 subjects illegally buying, storing, organizing, and using drugs. Thereby, more than 1.4 kg of synthetic drugs and more than 195 grams of heroin have been seized. To date, 127 cases have been prosecuted, with 174 defendants, the rest are being processed.
During the year, the authorities of Ben Tre province also discovered and seized about 22kg of drugs (cocaine) drifting ashore in the province. In addition, through re-inspection of 2,691 cases, 1,262 cases of illegal drug use were detected, 695 cases were fined, with a total of 1,171 million VND, and 348 cases were sent to compulsory drug rehabilitation.
Through screening, Ben Tre province recorded a total of 1,232 people addicted to illegal drugs (an increase of 36.13%). Currently, the authorities are managing 20 cases of drug addicts and illegal drug users showing signs of psychosis and “stonedness”.
The report stated that in 2025, the People's Committee of Ben Tre province will focus on leading and directing the implementation of solutions to continue maintaining political security and social order and safety; focusing on drastically reducing criminal offenses, social evils and traffic accidents. Focus on suppressing all types of crimes; preventing and combating high-tech crimes; protecting network security and state secrets in cyberspace.
