According to Rach Gia City Police (Kien Giang), recently, the situation of theft crimes has become complicated, especially motorbike theft crimes tend to increase, causing panic and anxiety among the people, affecting the security and order situation in the area.
In the past month (from August 16 to September 16, 2024), there have been 7 cases of property theft, including 5 cases of vehicle theft and 2 cases of break-in. In light of the above situation, Rach Gia City Police announced the methods and tricks of the above criminals.
Specifically, the subjects often ride motorbikes or walk along roads, alleys, parks, markets, bus stations, wharves, shops, offices, etc. to observe and monitor. They take advantage of people's carelessness and lack of vigilance such as: leaving the keys in the car, the car has no lock or the lock is not secure, the car is parked unattended, parked out of sight, etc. to commit theft.
Regarding the method of breaking in and stealing property, the subjects often go on the streets and alleys both day and night to observe. They focus on families with property, businesses that are often away or have only the elderly and children at home, with no one watching. When they have the opportunity, they use tools to cut, break locks, break glass doors, remove window frames, and break balcony doors on upper floors to break in and steal property.
The city police recommend that people be vigilant when parking their vehicles, lock their steering wheel carefully, park their vehicles in an easy-to-watch location, and avoid obstructing their view. People should install surveillance cameras to monitor their homes and businesses to prevent thieves.
Pawnshops do not pawn or buy vehicles of unknown origin or vehicles suspected of being stolen. If you see any suspicious cases, you should immediately report them to the nearest police station.
