Those who have made mistakes and served prison sentences have shared their feelings, opened up about their time serving their sentences, and the motivations that helped them rebuild their lives.

On July 30, at Phao Dai Ward, Ha Tien City, the Youth Committee of Kien Giang Provincial Police coordinated with Ha Tien City Police and Phao Dai Ward People's Committee to organize the Seminar Program Rehabilitated Youth progress.

The seminar program had more than 200 delegates attending, which is an activity in the National Day for the Protection of National Security. At the seminar program, those who had made mistakes and had to serve prison sentences shared their thoughts, feelings, and experiences about the time when they first served their sentences, their concerns and worries when they returned to their families after serving their sentences, and the care and support from the police and their families that helped them gain confidence to start their lives anew.

Major Truong Van Quoc, Head of the Youth Committee of the Provincial Police, said that most of them felt guilty and were reluctant to interact with their relatives and friends. Additionally, without stable jobs and income, they worried about their future. However, thanks to the help, propaganda, and encouragement from police officers and their families, they were motivated to comply well with the regulations at the place of execution, strive to reform well to return to society and their families soon.

Participating in the program, Mr. P.H.D (born in 1994), who served 8 years in prison for illegal possession, transportation, and sale of drugs, sincerely shared that after serving his sentence, he had rehabilitated, realized his mistakes, and was determined to start his life anew. Mr. D thought he was still young, still strong, and had a long future ahead, so he tried to overcome his guilt and worked hard to earn an income to support himself. "When I first returned, the local police force regularly cared for me and created conditions for me to live and work in the locality. From there, I realized my responsibility to my family and society, so I tried to work hard to erase my past mistakes and become a useful person to society," Mr. D shared.

As for Mr. T.H.H (born in 1987), who committed the crime of intentional injury and served 3.5 years in prison, he shared: “I hope everyone thinks carefully before doing anything, don't act impulsively and recklessly, because when you regret it, it's too late. Comply well with the law, love your family and relatives more, and work hard to both improve the family's life and contribute to the economic and social development of the locality.”

On this occasion, the provincial police also gave many gifts to rehabilitated progressive youth, disadvantaged youth, forces participating in maintaining security and order at the grassroots level, and students overcoming difficulties and studying well in Phao Dai Ward. Photo: Kien Giang Police
