Ho Chi Minh City - On December 22, Ho Chi Minh City Police announced that they had dismantled two inter-district robbery gangs operating with sophisticated and reckless tactics.

In a high-profile crackdown on crime, Ho Chi Minh City Police established two special projects and mobilized forces to capture the suspects. As a result, four suspects from two professional gangs were arrested.

The first group, including Nhan Minh Duc (born in 1987), Nguyen Ngoc Nghia (born in 1988) and Mai Minh Hoang (born in 1995), operated mainly in District 5, District 10 and Tan Binh. The subjects often used motorbikes as a means of committing crimes, taking advantage of deserted roads or when the victims were not alert to snatch handbags, phones and valuables. The subjects confessed to having committed four robberies recently.

The second group involves Vu Van Luong (born in 1998), who used sophisticated tricks when approaching victims via social networks, pretending to buy and sell motorbikes to commit robberies. Luong arranged to meet the victims at deserted locations, then asked to check their papers and motorbike keys. When the victims lost their vigilance, he quickly sped away. Within 5 days from December 9 to 14, 2024, Luong committed 3 robberies in districts in Ho Chi Minh City. The evidence of the cases, which were three motorbikes, was fully recovered.

Currently, the authorities are consolidating the records to handle the subjects in accordance with the law.
