Recently, voters of Kien Giang province have proposed that the Provincial People's Committee take measures to stabilize prices of agricultural materials and regularly inspect and strictly handle counterfeit, fake and poor quality goods according to the law.
Regarding this issue, the Provincial People's Committee said that in 2024, the Inspectorate of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development issued a periodic and ad hoc implementation plan under the direction of superiors. The inspection and examination contents are goods; administrative procedures related to conditions, production and business at establishments related to the inspection contents.
Up to now, 3 inspection teams of agricultural materials have been organized to integrate food safety content to inspect and examine 118 production and business establishments, focusing on taking 75 samples to analyze the quality of goods circulating on the market in order to promptly detect counterfeit and poor quality goods.
Accordingly, 7 decisions were issued to sanction administrative violations in trading fertilizers with quality not in accordance with the corresponding technical regulations (poor quality) with a fine of nearly 146 million VND and 4 acts of trading pesticides with quality not in accordance with the corresponding technical regulations (poor quality) with a fine of more than 10 million VND.
Regarding administrative violations, in 2024, a decision was issued to sanction violations in the field of agricultural materials at production and business establishments, collecting budget revenue with a total fine of more than 716 million VND.
Through inspection, most of the production and trading establishments of agricultural materials comply with the provisions of law in the agricultural sector; products are diverse, abundant, have listed prices and are competitive in the market, contributing to improving the quality of products to meet the needs of farmers.
However, there is still a situation where fertilizer companies write confusing information on packaging labels; taking advantage of people's lack of information to cause misunderstanding about products such as organic fertilizers, micronutrient fertilizers, NP fertilizers... into DAP fertilizers; 30% potassium fertilizer into 61%. In addition, there is a situation where the type of fertilizer sold by agricultural supplies facilities is not true to the nature and truth of the fertilizer. Some agricultural supplies stores that sell pesticides do not have a Certificate of Eligibility for trading pesticides or do not fully maintain the conditions for trading pesticides according to regulations.
In the coming time, the Inspectorate of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will continue to inspect and examine the field of agricultural materials according to plan, suddenly and coordinate with the Department of Finance to have measures to manage and stabilize the prices of agricultural materials in Kien Giang province.
