Quang Binh - The media forum attracted more than 500 participants, conveying a strong message on preventing and combating human trafficking.

On the afternoon of June 10, in Dong Hoi City, the Vietnam Women's Union in coordination with the Women's Union of Quang Binh province organized a communication forum with the theme "Joining hands to change the future: Women and young people pioneer in propagating, disseminating laws and communication on safe migration, preventing human trafficking".

Speaking at the opening of the Forum, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union Nguyen Thi Minh Huong said that the situation of human trafficking crimes in recent times has continued to develop complicatedly, with increasingly sophisticated and diverse methods and tricks of crime.

The subjects take advantage of human trafficking flows, global supply chains, legal and economic loopholes as well as digital platforms to conduct large-scale cross-border human trafficking. According to research by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), women and girls account for 42% and 18% of all victims of trafficking and exploitation, respectively, for the purpose of sexual exploitation.

Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union Nguyen Thi Minh Huong emphasized that, in the face of the complicated developments of human trafficking crimes in our country, it requires more solutions and efforts in this work, focusing on promoting propaganda on preventing and combating human trafficking for people, especially women and young people.

Empowering women and young people, supporting women and young people to become a pioneer force in activities to promote safe migration and prevent human trafficking will contribute significantly to raising public awareness and effectively preventing human trafficking crimes.

After the interactive stage, the forum entered the dialogue session with the participation of representatives of the Women's Union, the Public Security force, the Ministry of Health, and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. Delegates shared practical information on anti- human trafficking activities, rights of migrants, communication roles and especially the proactive participation of young people in risk prevention.

In the context of increasingly complicated unsafe migration and human trafficking, the role of Women's Union at all levels and international organizations becomes especially important.

With a network reaching to the grassroots, the Vietnam Women's Union is not only a bridge but also a core force in propagating and raising public awareness, especially women and young people, about the risks of unsafe migration.
