Innovation of traditional products
Teng Village, Ba Thanh Commune, Ba To District is the only place where the Hre ethnic group in Quang Ngai still preserves the unique traditional craft of brocade weaving. Talking to reporters, Ms. Pham Thi Din (residing in Ba Thanh commune) shared: "I started weaving brocade when I was 20 years old and have been attached to the profession until now. I hope that the State will pay more attention and support to preserve and teach this profession to future generations, and at the same time encourage young people to learn and preserve this unique traditional profession."
The traditional brocade weaving craft of the Hre people has created products to serve the needs of daily life such as sewing dresses and shirts for women; loincloths and shirts for men; head scarves, blankets... In recent years, products from Teng Village brocade are quite diverse, chosen by many tourists in and outside the province to buy as gifts.
Currently, brocade scarves and brocade ties are 4-star OCOP products. In addition to participating in supply-demand connection fairs and brocade exhibitions, Hre brocade products are promoted and introduced to many countries around the world.
Ms. Pham Thi Y Hoa - a brocade business owner in Lang Teng - said that in 2024, a unit in Binh Dinh ordered 1,000 brocade panels to serve cultural and artistic activities. Lang Teng brocade is an OCOP product, creating favorable conditions to expand the consumption market, contributing to improving the lives of local people who still practice traditional brocade weaving.
