According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Soc Trang province, the 6th Ooc Om Boc Festival - Ngo Boat Racing in Soc Trang, Mekong Delta region and the 1st Soc Trang Culture, Sports and Tourism Week, 2024 will take place from November 9-15, 2024.
The festival has 5 activities including the Opening program, Ngo boat racing, Moon Worshiping Ceremony; Loi protip (Water lantern) competition and Ca Hau boat performance; closing summary of the Festival and Culture, Sports and Tourism Week combined with the closing ceremony of Ngo boat racing awards.
The highlight of the festival is the Ngo boat race taking place from November 14-15 on the Maspero River. It is expected that about 55-60 male and female teams from inside and outside the province will participate.
And the organization set the Vietnam Guinness Record for the performance of pentatonic music - the national intangible cultural heritage of the Khmer people in Soc Trang province on the largest scale in Vietnam.
In 2023, the Vietnam Record Organization recognized the Record "Ooc Om Boc Festival - Ngo boat racing in Soc Trang with the largest number of ngo boats and athletes".
