On January 4, Vinh Thong Ward Police (An Giang) said that they had just temporarily detained Cao Van Toan (born in 1991, residing in Vinh Thong ward, An Giang province) to verify and clarify the act of property theft.
Previously, Vinh Thong Ward Police received a report from people about a suspect stealing property. Upon receiving the report, the Ward Police quickly assigned forces to the scene and people to arrest the suspect.
At the police station, Toan confessed: Because he had no money to spend, Toan called a motorbike taxi to take him to some roads to find stolen property. When the motorbike taxi took Toan to Kenh Nam Lieu street in Ta Keo Ngon neighborhood, Vinh Thong ward, the subject saw in front of a hut near Nam Tien bridge a motorbike parked on the roadside, with a key attached to it.
Toan asked the motorbike taxi to stop to pay and then pretended to walk to observe around. When he saw no one, Toan immediately got in and got on the motorbike, reversed to the bridge slope, and was about to start the motorbike to escape when people discovered and shouted for help.
Toan abandoned the car and drove onto Nguyen Chanh street, Ta Keo Ngon neighborhood, then was arrested by the car owner and the ward police force.
Currently, Vinh Thong Ward Police have temporarily detained subject Toan for further investigation and handling according to legal regulations.
