On the evening of May 1, a leader of Ha Tien City (Kien Giang) said that the authorities had found the body of a male tourist from Soc Trang who jumped into the river that morning.
After many hours of searching on the river, at around 5:30 p.m. on May 1, Mr. C.T's body was brought ashore.
Previously, in the early morning of May 1, Mr. C.T (31 years old, living in Soc Trang province) suddenly jumped into the Dong Ho river in Binh San ward, Ha Tien city (near To Chau bridge) while drinking coffee with a group of tourists from Soc Trang.
When the incident occurred, people quickly reported it to the Binh San ward police for handling. After receiving the information, the police force coordinated with border guards and military forces to use equipment and machinery to search.
Initial information shows that the victim was from Tran De district, Soc Trang traveling to Ha Tien city with his wife and children. Mr. T did not know how to swim.
The case is still being handled by the authorities.
