On March 28, Kien Giang Provincial Police held a conference to review the implementation of the Plan to strengthen security and order assurance in Phu Quoc City.
According to the direction of the Provincial Police Director, in the past month, professional departments and the Police of communes and wards in Phu Quoc City have deployed many measures to grasp the situation, be proactive in managing and controlling the area and subjects, ensuring political security and safety for events, and Party and State leaders coming to work in the locality. Social order crimes have decreased sharply (down 78.57% compared to February 2025); Administrative management of social order has been strengthened, with no fires or explosions occurring.
In the past month, the police force in Phu Quoc City has investigated and discovered 3/3 cases, arrested and handled 7 subjects committing crimes against social order; organized education and reformed 19 subjects, and at the same time managed and prevented many subjects who could form gangs.
The units inspected 38 professional businesses with security, order conditions and disseminated legal information on weapons, explosives and fireworks; coordinated with the Department of Tourism Inspectorate to inspect 5 companies operating water sports. Organized the reception of 262 citizen identification documents; conducted inspections and instructions on fire safety assurance at 52 facilities; surveyed and guided on security, order, and fire prevention to serve the Ceremony to announce Phu Quoc City as a Class I urban area and the Launching Ceremony of projects to serve the 2027 APEC Summit.
Organized fire prevention and fighting training for the Phu Quoc National Park force; 59 patrols, traffic safety control, inspection of more than 1,500 vehicles and administrative fines for 227 violations with a total amount of over 200 million VND.
Speaking at the conference, Colonel Nguyen Van Han - Director of the Provincial Police Department requested that in the coming time, professional departments and the Police of communes and wards continue to coordinate to grasp the security and order situation, proactively advise on the immediate settlement of disputes and complaints at the grassroots level to avoid complications in security and order. Propaganda work, building a movement for the entire people to protect national security needs to be promoted, mobilizing the participation of the political system and the people.
The Director of the Provincial Police Department directed forces to increase focus on key tasks such as launching attacks and suppressing crimes during the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification and major holidays; handling fraudulent activities, appropriating assets using high technology in cyberspace; increasing the rate of handling reports and denunciations of crimes and speeding up the progress of investigation, handling crimes and ensuring security and safety at detention and detention facilities.
Strengthen the management of residence, immigration, and occupations with conditions on security and order. At the same time, pay attention to educating and encouraging officers and soldiers to overcome initial difficulties when implementing the new organizational model without the district-level police.
